The man who amaze the “World”

A twelve year boy had a deep discussion with elders in the society at the temple during the festival season. What would he had converse with them – The mother of that boy wonders and questions herself? She might have worried because she could not send her son to one of the best schools in the town because of their family situation. But she believes that God is beyond her inability like many of the mothers would think now.

Be a reason for ‘Change’

The Child grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man, as the child grown up; it was disturbed by political and religious atrocities. The poor and the marginalised were punished and they were levy heavy tax upon them, their only hope was said to be God, but their dreams and hope were scattered because the temple Priest were hypocrites and not shown any mercy to them.

Both Political and religiously they (people) were persecuted. Prophet Haggai said, “You have planted many seeds, but you have gathered only a few crops. You have food to eat, but not enough to get full. You have something to drink, but not enough to get drunk. You have some clothes to wear, but not enough to keep warm. You earn a little money, but you don’t know where it all goes. It’s as though there is a hole in your pocket!” Likewise the people of Israel work hard, but there is no peace within them, in this scenario Jesus begins His ministry saying “The Kingdom of God is at hand”. Jesus became the reason for their Change in life.

When Jesus trying to bring a change in the life of the people; and make people to think and ask questions, it disturbs the dominant class in the society. The place of worship becomes place of business. Disturb the settled.

We, who follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ, are called to do what our master did. By asking questions we should also disturb the dominant fascist and capitalistic society. God sometimes takes us deep into the sea not to disturb our faith but to see how majestic God’s creation and God’s ways are... “Though I walk through the valley of death I’ll fear no evil”... only in the valley death we can hold God’s staff and rod, only after the whirlwind Elijah receive double portion of blessings...only after the water is stirred healing is possible...

It is good to be disturbed so that we may take a u turn and walk in the right directions. Saul’s purpose and goal changed when he was disturbed on his way to Damascus.

Jesus, twelve disciples and Saul were the reason for a dramatic change the world could ever witness.

God who wants to see through us; It is not what we see...

The greatness of human is measured (worldly) by one's wealth but we fail to recognize his or her contribution to the well being of others.

The Samaritan woman who said as “immoral” by the society came to draw water during one afternoon, a well groomed man waiting near at the well to begin to converse with the woman asking for water. This is something unusual and shock the lady, because for two reasons

1) He’s from Judea

2) She was not able to disclose her state of mind to a stranger.

But the conversation with him made her to think, “What God wants to see through her”.

The right conversation with the right person makes us right people irrespective of who we are. She became the saviour to her community.

When the world is in chaos, God chooses us to take part in the liberation process. The right conversation with the right person makes a right human being- irrespective of who we are. The conversation with Jesus made her to a missionary to her community by spreading the good news.

This pandemic helps us to understand that the world is in chaotic situation. The nature forced to reclaim its space. That is why we are called to see and think what God see and thinks. When St. Paul said to the Romans - "that he who follows the footsteps of Jesus should have the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ had" he said.

We are called to have GOD'S MIND and GOD'S THINKING.

Jesus in His earthly ministry often refers to the beauty of God’s creation.  This shows how Jesus deals with the nature. He takes parables from mountains, sea, trees, birds, animals, farming etc.., Jesus rebukes the sea and curses the fig tree because of humans’ unbelief and failing to produce fruitful life.

Let us have the Mind of Jesus.
